In hindsight, I now see the value of my journey not only as a source of unending research, experience and knowledge, but also as the cradle of many of my most treasured human connections. What I enjoy most about working with peer-based techniques and lived experience is that moment when someone else finds comprehension, compassion and hope in someone else’s words. In this respect, as James Nestor eloquently reminds us, as we inhale and exhale our breath becomes a powerful bridge that links us to the intricate networks and rhythms of existence. Through our breath, we draw in the same air that has been cycled through the bodies of countless living beings before us and exhale it back into the world for others to receive. This interconnectedness reminds us that we are not isolated individuals, but rather integral parts of a much larger vital mycelium.
My own story with wellbeing has led me to a lifelong pursuit of tools and experiences through which to regain and uphold a sense of safety within myself.
Breathwork has, in this sense, always been the steppingstone for any path I have explored. In its innate nature, it’s both the simplest as well as the easiest way to mitigate the effects of anxiety and stress and is therefore a vital tool to navigate the ups and downs of life without losing your inner space as your ultimate and true home.
